Veterans & Military

One of my favorite themes to speak about is Veterans and those who continue to serve in our armed forces … due, in no small part, to me being one of them.

I followed my 31-year military career with service in the American Red Cross, drafting a new strategy for Service to the Armed Forces and speaking across North Texas as a Veteran’s advocate. Subsequently leading United Way of Tarrant County, I added a Veteran services department - Mission United - and forged partnerships for what is now the Texas Veteran’s Network. I’ve been advocating Veteran causes ever since.

  • America’s Veterans are a national asset - economically, as well as socially and historically. I address a wide range of Veteran topics, including:

Veteran transition to civilian life and work
    - Communicating your transferable skills, optimizing your value and speaking civilian.

What Vets can do for your company
    - Stories from the uniformed service of Vets who have gone on to exemplify success in other sectors.

Not Charity Cases - Vets as catalysts
    - Why hiring Vets is the best resource move you can make to enhance your productivity and revenue.

You hired a Vet, now what?
    - From onboarding, through engagement, to promotion; What to expect from that new warrior on your team.

What you and your team can learn from your Vets
    - Replace misinformed concerns about PTS with excitement about that bold new teammate with the tattoos.

    PTS - myths and realities
    - Why it’s no longer “PTSD” and perspective in the workplace.

    The plague of Veteran suicide
    - 22 Veterans kill themselves EVERY DAY. Rally to end the carnage.

The Medal of Honor - stories of valor
    - A dramatic reading of Medal of Honor citations - for Recipients I’ve met face-to-face.

Just about any Veteran topic is fair game. Let’s talk about what your event needs.

  • Recognizing how Veterans contribute to America’s economy and social fabric is appropriate any time, but especially at:

    Veteran’s Day Events
    Memorial Day Commemorations
    Armed Forces Day Events
    Flag Day Events
    VFW Breakfasts
    VA Fairs
    Military Changes of Command
    Military Retirements

  • Veterans Day and Memorial Day tend to book quickly, so please make plans well in advance.

I don’t speak on national security, foreign policy or military strategy.
