Gallup states in "The Employee Engagement Crisis" that 70% of employees are disengaged and that number has "barely budged" in ten years. SLS global data show that only 30% of managers at any level are considered "leaders" by the people that report to them. 45% are mere managers and 25% are bad bosses. The connection: 70% of employees are disengaged because 70% of managers don't know how to lead. Still worse - typical training programs in leadership do little to transform managers into leaders.
